In case you are going for a hike with the family then make sure everyone has their own water and if you have children it is a good idea to take some extra bottles along. Never assume that everyone has brought along the things that they will need, double check and ask to see the things if need be.
It may seem mean but it is better to annoy the kids a bit than to realize that no one has any water remain to drink half way up the mountain. Getting prepared is vital for a safe as well as enjoyable hiking trip. And don't forget the tactical knife.
